Somehow in between doing 3 laps of the world, getting a degree in Economics and an MSc in Computation, Doug found time to star in no less than seven MUGSS shows between 1989 and 1996.
His impressive array of leading roles is all the more startling, as not one of them actually required an audition. Indeed, Doug took the art of coarse chorus acting to previously insurmountable heights, regularly upstaging some of MUGSS’s most talented principals from within a chorus of fifty or more. His talents have been an inspiration to many, and prove the MUGSS philosophy that hamming it up in the chorus is always more fun and a far better challenge for the egotistical hedonist than being a principal.
Since leaving Manchester, Doug has juggled his passion for exotic foreign travel with a performing career of sorts as a PriceWaterhouseCoopers management consultant. He harnesses his broad range of histrionic talents to dubious effect in a variety of change management roles, and was recently spotted on Carlton’s ‘London Tonight’ dancing half-naked Steps and S Club 7 routines before an audience of thousands on a West End stage.
