Al spent the first year in the Society totally overshadowed by a large ginger beard, attempting to compensate for a lack of maturity now glaringly apparent. A campaign of bloody-minded persistent attendance bored the Society into electing him Social Secretary, and in the same year "Yeoman" saw Al's only principal part, fondling young women and wrestling with fit young men in codpieces. The audience was generally good enough to follow his lead and overlook his two lines. He appeared in the now-infamous "Pirates", ostensibly his final show before a life of heroic research and fortune, notable largely for fabulous scarlet pants. Al returned to Manchester after failing to do anything at all useful for a year in London save wallowing in sloth and drink, and demonstrated his sophistication by rejoining Mugss. Typically understated, Al once again demonstrated his dubious talents in "Iolanthe". His leering hunchbacked cripple was simply appallingly poor.

Unable to pay his credit card bill and rent with credit card cheques for more than a few months, Al stumbled into employment at Cable & Wireless, answering the telephone with a degree of enthusiasm dependent on that shift's proximity to a rehearsal or party. After two years of smiling while dialing he was kicked into taking on a Good Job within the company. Pausing only to rub down a muscular torso in The Sorcerer he headed off to Watford, where he cheered his workmates with tuneless humming of G&S's greatest hits and turning up to office parties in fancy dress. Quickly tiring of the tedious requirements of hard work and organisation - greatly understated downsides of paid employment, he feels - he has now thrown away the opportunity to continue dealing with numerous helpful and lovely comuter engineers (who completely coincidentally host this site and are marvellous chaps, every last one of them, but most especially the webmaster) to become one himself, and has moved back to Manchester to party - er, study for an MSc in Computing. Geekdom ho! is his new watchword, when he has to get out of bed to say anything at all.
